The BrightCurrent Mission
As a company, we believe the largest barrier to universal residential solar adoption is education. Whereas in the past cost was the prohibitive factor, recent developments in the industry have dramatically reduced the price of residential solar, in many cases to below the price of the grid. Our Mission is to target specifically these communities and, using grassroots tactics, educate homeowners about the possibilities of saving money while simultaneously contributing to sustainable energy and environmental conservation efforts.
We believe all people want clean, dependable electricity. By providing solar for up to 40% less than the utility, we make solar attainable to all homeowners. BrightCurrent provides a simple and affordable pathway to switch to solar power. We target communities where the price of solar is less than the electric utility and employ a motivated, fun and passionate staff to incite real change.
BrightCurrent Co-Founders John Bourne and Jack Bertuzzi have combined over a decade of experience in the solar industry. John has served as a Director of Marketing and Business Development with industry leaders like ICE Energy, Samba Energy and SunEdison. At Samba, John managed residential lead generation and launched a suite of software tools for residential installers designed to facilitate the sales process. At SunEdison, John helped grow the residential team from 2 to 32 employees and over 3MW’s of projects in the year of the team's inception. Jack began in sales with Bay Solar Power Design, but quickly chose to mobilize his investment banking background and transitioned to the solar finance arm of HelioPower in 2008. His team developed and financed over 4MW's of small solar systems during extremely adverse economic conditions. In 2011, he relocated to launch a new venture called Ecogy Solar. He has since placed 1.6 MW’s of solar into service with a significant pipeline behind it.
Life at BrightCurrent
BrightCurrent is a company with a young and dynamic internal culture. Our team is comprised mostly of current college students and recent graduates. In addition to their core job responsibilities, we regularly organize events and activities for our team. These can include seminars conducted by leaders operating at all levels of the sustainable energy industry, regular team dinners and periodic team-building excursions and activities. In line with our Mission to educate homeowners about solar, we also want to expose our team to all aspects of the sustainable energy sector. This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a staff friendly start-up company with considerable growth opportunities within the organization.
