Accounting Manager - San Francisco, CA

Overview
The Account Manager (AM) will be the Propeller point person for a selected portfolio of clients. The AM will be responsible for onboarding new clients, prioritizing clients’ needs, assigning tasks to members of the Propeller accounting team, and ensuring that tasks and projects are executed properly and on schedule.

The ideal AM candidate will have experience working directly with clients, strong quantitative skills, advanced accounting experience and excellent organizational skills.

All members of the Propeller team must have the flexibility to adapt to ongoing change and evolving job descriptions as needs and opportunities become clear.
Responsibilities
New client transitions including:
Meeting with clients to determine needs and priorities and set up timelines
Setting up hosted server access
Structuring and setting up new QuickBooks files
Setting up payroll and transitioning from other services
Setting up bill.com services and sync
Training client staff how to use new systems
Coordinating workflow with Propeller’s team in India and Philippines
Managing schedules and expectations, and providing updates to clients as the work evolves
Help implement Propeller upgrades to client systems & processes
Chart of accounts review & restructuring
Budgeting
Reporting
Inventory processes: item configuration, purchasing, receiving, sales orders, invoicing
Ongoing client work
Oversee and/or supplement work of outsourced accounting teams:
A/P, A/R GL, etc.
Monthly close
Budgeting
Financial reporting
Payroll
Fill gaps between outsourced accounting team capabilities and client needs
Urgent issues that require same-day response
Collaborative projects that require live Q and A
On-site meetings
Sales tax returns and other company filings
Ongoing Process Improvement
Assess efficiencies and risks in existing processes and determine ways to evolve
Bring best-practices from top-performing companies to those that need them
Document policies and procedures and train staff how to use them, as necessary
Innovate, iterate, and communicate
Propeller Internal Work
Help manage the teams in India and Philippines including:
Training team as needed
Participating in and/or leading conference calls
Keeping tabs on individual projects and providing support necessary to keep the team busy and focused on priority issues
Experience
Project management or account management experience within an accounting or financial services setting
At least five years of financial management and accounting experience
Familiarity with all aspects of finance and accounting across a range of different business types
Experience in, and a passion for working in an early–stage company environment
Knowledge of GAAP
Excellent working knowledge of Excel and QuickBooks
A CPA and/or public accounting experience will be highly-valued

Education
A degree from a four-year university is required
