Analytics Engineer

Overview
Eventbrite is reshaping the world of event ticketing by allowing anyone to easily publish, promote and sell out their event. The business decisions that we make as our product grows and evolves are guided by careful analysis. We are looking for a strong analytics engineer destined to be revered by our team of analysts for his or her ability to make our data faster, cleaner and more accessible then ever before.

We’re looking for someone with strong engineering and analytical skills to help design and build the infrastructure our analysts need to quickly produce meaningful reports. Our business analytics engineer will automate the organization and aggregation of our existing data and gather data from new sources. We need someone who will pride themselves on the consistency and accuracy of the data they provide. This is someone who gets their hands dirty in the details and understands the power of subtle distinctions.
Responsibilities
Own the flow of data from our product to internal data consumers
Build and maintain ETL jobs to clean and aggregate data for the analytics team
Automate the collection of third party data through APIs
Reconcile new data sources
Identify source data inconsistencies and file tickets to fix these
Consolidate and add to documentation of data
Help spec data to be collected on new product features
Offer technical advice to analysts for scripting and writing efficient queries
Contribute to long term plans for optimizing analytics and decision making
Experience
3+ years of programming experience, ideally involving analytics/statistics/data visualization
Very comfortable designing schemas in MySQL (at least 3 years of experience)
Very comfortable with Python (at least 2 years of experience)
Experience working with large quantities of raw, disorganized data
Efficient, clever, practical programmer with a record of producing dependable code that’s easy to build on
Bachelor’s degree or better in a technical field (CS/Math/Stats/Engineering)
Skills
Advanced DBA-like knowledge of databases
Experience with the Hadoop stack and other distributed database architecturesFrontend experience building web-based charts like Highcharts
Experience with implementing BI tools like Pentaho or Tableau
