Automation Test Engineer- Brooklyn, NY

As a member of the Quality Department, the Automation Test Engineer is a key technical role who understands the principles of reliability evaluation, and prediction to improve product. The automation test engineer will be responsible for developing and executing validation testing on components and systems using both hardware and software.
Responsibilities
Rapidly building up test systems using Raspberry Pi’s, Arduino’s, Logic systems, and other cost effective tools.
Developing test libraries in Python for communication to peripheral equipment.
Setting up and maintaining software to control machines and tests remotely.
Assisting test engineers in troubleshooting software related issues.
Design test fixtures and assist in development of test protocols for Manufacturing, Engineering, and 3rd party vendors.
Participate in new product/process development to understand the products/processes and reliability risks.
Design/perform experiments to assess reliability risks and product lifetime for certain failure mechanisms.
Reviewing and interpreting test results providing feedback on product improvements while delivering clear, meaningful and repeatable test results.
Assume responsibility for own personal development and continuous learning.
Must have the ability to write technical summaries of testing performed.
A strong knowledge of reliability, testing procedures and equipment.
Performs a broad variety of tasks in support of product and process design as assigned by the departmental director.
Experience
Experience working with Arduino’s and other types microcontrollers
Skills
Strong knowledge of Python
Ability to program in C/C++ and Ruby a plus
Expert electronics (analog/digital) and test equipment knowledge and collecting and interpreting scientific data.
Machine shop experience a plus
Knowledge in reliability test procedures and industrial standards, reliability principles and statistics is required.
Knowledge of hardware specifications, manufacturing methods and procedures, plastics and/or sheet-metal manufacturing, and packaging.
High degree of ownership and professional commitment required
Demonstrate expertise to effectively communicate within all levels of the organization.
Exceptional analytical, problem solving, and root-cause analysis skills.
Ability to multitask and handle tasks with competing priorities effectively.
Clear thinker: Simplifying strategy into specific actions with clear accountability
Education
BS Degree in Engineering , or technical discipline with 2-5 years’ experience
