Backend Engineer

at Metamoki, Inc. in San Francisco, CA   —   Jul 23, 2014   |
We want game developers who are serious and passionate about building mobile and Facebook games. You understand what makes a game fun, and you spend a lot of time thinking about what makes a game great. You can explain complex and abstract ideas to your team members openly to drive innovation and creativity. If running multiple games that support hundreds of thousands of players sounds interesting to you, then this is the opportunity for you.

If working on games enjoyed by millions sounds invigorating, then this is the opportunity for you!
We are currently looking for a Backend Engineer to join our talented team to design and develop code for a variety of cross-platform social games.
A keen eye for detail and strong problem solving skills are a must.
Be prepared for collaboration across art, design, and product development, while engaging in problem solving/scalability development strategies.
3+ years in LAMP stack development
Self-starter personality; can work independently
Knowledge of server administration within AWS, Pagoda Box, or a similar PAAS provider
Familiarity with standard web development technologies (PHP, HTML, Javascript, CSS). Bonus points for jQuery and Backbone.js experience
Experience with optimizing infrastructure and scaling beyond a single server. Ideal candidate should be familiar with load balancing strategies, memcache, and splitting database traffic across a cluster of servers
Facebook API experience
Experience in game and feature development cycles are big bonuses
Previous experience using GitHub and SCRUM development cycles are strongly preferred
Knowledge of Unity, iOS, and Android platforms are a major plus
