We are looking for a sales and marketing executive to join a well-funded, start-up company, specializing in publishing a new breed of literature study guides and being launched by an experienced publishing entrepreneur. We will be publishing on both print and digital platforms and are broadly focused on the education sector.
This is an opportunity to gain the kind of experience which would not be available in a large publishing house. The role is about building a brand. As one of the early employees, you will be afforded exposure to some of the major challenges of the business, and play a key role in the growth of the business.
We produce study guides with a difference. They are more than just guides, they are to reading the great works of literature, they are great reads in themselves! We're a small start-up created by Jon Connell, a successful publishing entrepreneur who is the founder and editorial director of The Week and Money Week.
As a start-up, you’ll be required to ‘roll-up your sleeves’ on a regular basis and get involved in a wide variety of tasks. Among other things, it will involve developing the business on the web, liaising with distributors and wholesalers, selling to schools and universities and putting together and updating a sales catalogue.
Recent graduate or 1-2 years out of university.
Any work experience, paid or unpaid will be looked on favourably.
We are looking for someone ambitious, internet-literate and a quick learner.
The successful candidate should be a graduate with a demonstrated interest in literature.
An aptitude and interest in digital as well as print is a must.
(Perhaps you will have maintained a blog or regularly updated a website whilst at university.)
Graduate from a leading university
A postgraduate qualification in publishing or business would be advantageous, but by no means a requirement.
The starting salary will be £18,000, but there will be an attractive bonus scheme based on meeting sales targets.
