SpareHire ( is an online marketplace that connects a vetted pool of finance and consulting professionals with a variety of organizations for project-based work. We founded the business in April 2013 and recently closed our first investment round. On the heels of our fundraise, we are preparing to re-launch our web platform and kickoff an aggressive marketing effort.

Our team consists of two co-founders with private equity backgrounds and a CTO with experience building financial technology platforms. Apart from work, we are a pretty low-key bunch that loves to eat, drink, and discuss just about anything. Lastly, our very first MBA intern joined us during the spring of 2014, and he swears it’s been a great experience!

Job Description:

We are looking for someone to join our team for the summer and wear multiple hats. Our team is small and we work in a relatively unstructured environment, so we are looking for a self-starter who can independently run with large work streams. Ultimately, the intern would have a significant role in shaping his/her summer, as we need help across multiple fronts, including but not limited to: marketing (direct & online), business development, social media outreach, and UX / platform improvement.

Our intern will be given significant responsibility and have the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to SpareHire’s ongoing growth. This is an ideal role for someone who wants experience working in a fast-paced startup environment.

This position has the potential to extend into part-time work through Fall and Winter '14, and may even convert into a full-time position.
Formulate and execute marketing campaigns, including: e-mail, SEM, direct mail, social media etc.
Develop and run smaller, targeted ad campaigns
Help assess efficacy of various marketing and ad spend
Assist in the preparation of marketing materials
Help to develop large-scale channel partnerships
Support CTO with platform improvements / testing (*coding not required*)
Other ad-hoc projects that arise
2+ years of work experience in business development, marketing or a similar role
Keen understanding of various marketing channels and ad campaigns
Experience developing and managing social media pages and social media outreach efforts
Marketing experience (online, direct etc.)
Expertise with social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.)
Strong MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Strong presentation skills
Attention to detail
Strong work ethic
Desire to learn and thrive in an unstructured environment
The candidate must have graduated from an undergraduate program
Compensation will be stipend based
