CFO/COO for Educational Entertainment Social Enterprise

Overview
Take on the financial and operational leadership role of a mission-driven edutainment production firm that has the potential for tremendous impact and great returns for employees and investors.

The CFO/COO is a key position for BALANCE Edutainment and will manage finances and operations.
Responsibilities
Help build the senior management team
Implement strategy and vision
Manage and oversee all financial and business planning activities, including:
Create and implement financial and strategic five-year plans.
Oversee business policies and accounting practices, including preparing budgets, financial reports, tax and audit functions.
Supervise investment and raising of funds for business.
Review, analyze, and report on trends, opportunities for expansion, and projections of future company growth.
Lead the "performance management process" that measures and evaluates progress against budget and company goals.
Oversee organizational development, including operating policies and entity structure, and ensure smooth daily operations to support overall company objectives.
Oversee risk management and legal activities, including client contracts, partnership agreements, investment papers, and other legal documents.
Manage and oversee the human resource function, including hiring, salary and benefits, equity compensation plan, training and development, and retention efforts.
Experience
Ideally has a minimum of 8+ years of strong operational experience and preferably worked in a senior management role for 5+ years.
Experience working in finance is mandatory
Experience working for a New Media or Entertainment company is strongly preferred.
Experience with startups and/or building small organizations is mandatory
Experience raising capital is mandatory
Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis with previous experience overseeing human resources, information technology, and legal.
Skills
Skills should include organizational development, personnel management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning.
Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team.
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the mission of BALANCE Edutainment.
Flexible and able to multi-task; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems
Up to date knowledge of current financial and accounting computer applications.
Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational and written skills.
High level understanding of critical environmental and social problems and ability to converse about them in the business context as appropriate
Education
Masters in Business Administration or Bachelors in Finance
Compensation
Minimal cash compensation until sufficient funding and equity interest in the enterprise.
