The ideal candidate has proven leadership, ideally in an e-Commerce, Media or Fashion company and has effectively worked in both early stage and growth stage company environments, proving the ability to scale a development team and the technology platform to serve millions of monthly unique visitors. We are looking for a candidate who is a team builder with a minimum of 5 years of technology/development experience, gets excited about implementing innovative technology under tight time lines and is comfortable as both a technical and personnel manager.
Provide technical vision for product and infrastructure features
Work with Marketing/Product Management to enhance the user experience
Recruit and manage a highly talented internal development team
Manage external contractors
Manage the development process and release schedule
Mentor developers, define and document development methods, and share best practices
Review and recommend improvements to product architecture
Conduct code reviews and provide technical recommendations
Company-wide IT leadership
Web Development (Django and Python)
Experience managing a development team in projects with tight schedules
5+ years of web development and social and ecommerce and experience
Experience in recommendation engines and algorithms
Strong focus on user experience, design, and usability for consumers – (and internal tools)
Experience creating web applications that scale for hundreds of thousands/millions of users, ideally with phython/Django
Excellent communications, presentation, and writing skills: must be able to articulate complex technical concepts in simple terms to audiences of varying technical acumen
Interest in working in an early stage fast-paced startup environment
Sense of humor and positive attitude essential!
Must be hands on and have proven experience scaling a team.
BA/BS degree – CS/EE/Engineering degree preferred
