Chief Sales and Business Development Officer

As a member of the Executive Management Team, serves as the senior leader in sales, new business development, and strategic partnerships.
Ensure achievement of revenue goals
Build, elucidate, and oversee business development plans for customer acquisition and market growth
Determine mix of direct and indirect distribution channels
Determines sales territories in the USA with the greatest opportunity and align resources appropriately
Build the sales team and determine sales compensation
Build sales skills within the direct sales team
Build and manage the indirect distributor, consultant, and contractor relationships and channels. Build and improve relationships within these channels
Determine pricing guidelines and envelopes
Support sales team in specific selling efforts
Ensure that customers receive appropriate post-sales product support
Achieve timely placement of GridSmart on targeted state and local QPL lists and specifications
Establish appropriate sales operations processes and ensure they are run effectively and efficiently
Determine, establish, and nurture needed relationships with external entities such as trade associations and governmental bodies
Ideal experience profile
Has served as head of sales / business development with demonstrated success in growing revenue from sub-$10 M run rate to over $100 M. Strongly prefer small company sales leadership experience over large enterprise
Experience selling into local and state governments; transportation preferred.
Prefer established contacts and relationships with potential customers and channel partners. Will consider other market experience for the right sales leadership talent
Strong experience building, maintaining, and effectively monetizing the indirect channel
Proven evangelical sales track record in a new product/new market environment
Outstanding sales and closing skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively martial other functional groups to help in driving sales
Proven track record in building and developing successful sales teams
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a results driven, team oriented environment
Outstanding consultative selling abilities and excellent interpersonal skills with executive level customers and partners
Proven sub-$100 M company strategist
