Customer Solutions Engineer

Is it possible to have just the right blend of serious technical chops and business savvy and polish? We are looking to add a motivated and passionate do-it-all engineer to help design and create custom solutions, and keep customers happy as a clam after their purchase.
Coordinating pre-sales to asses opportunity, technical challenges and recommend sales/product offerings.
After-sales support (answer in-depth customer questions and inquiries, getting applications to work, troubleshooting, etc.)
Researching and understanding the needs of the customer and defining overall technical and business solutions (preferably solutions that deliver more value to customers while creating less work for you/our engineers)
Developing and growing long-term relationships with customers
Managing and interpreting customer requirements - speaking with clients to understand, anticipate and meet their needs
Developing and presenting enticing business cases, technical presentations, and demos that align with customer needs and requirements
Persuading clients that a product or service best satisfies their needs in terms of quality, price and delivery
Creating client quotations and negotiating contracts
Define product and technical responses for RFP requests.
Yes, there will be routine stuff like recording and maintaining client contact data, coordinating presentations, and supporting marketing activities (we are a true start-up .... you do it all).
Searching for new clients who might benefit from company products or services
Owning absolute accountability: you own the successes and the failures
Demonstrable java and linux chops with experience working on an embedded platform.
A strong background in developing custom technical solutions to solve business problems
Understanding of product functionality / capability gaps, and ability to define ways to address gaps using product enhancements, partners, etc.
Proven ability selling into complex sales environments with both business and technical buyers.
Must be a passionate, self motivated, personable, multi-tasker
Ability to understand source code at a high level, be able to make create applications and make modifications to existing Java programs.
Good grip on the fundamentals of electronics, computer hardware, networks, and wireless technologies.
Ability to communicate in both technical and non-technical language, and translate between them with customers and engineers.
Some experience with open source projects or communities.
Travel is not common but should be willing/able to travel 15% to 20%
Demonstrable java and linux chops with experience working on an embedded platform.
Four-year college degree with a major in engineering, math, science, computer science, or business is going to score much better with us.
