Building on Synchrony’s patent-pending Innovation Capital™ system of quantifying the strategic value of innovation investments, the Data Scientist will be a core member of the TiCR Innovation Analytics™ team. S/he will work closely with Synchrony’s senior management and development team to drive the development of the firms’ capabilities in modeling critical data relationships, translate client needs and product concepts into analytic models, identify new sources of relevant information, build data visualizations, and participate in the process of turning raw data into useful decision-support information.
Data Analysis – study and summarize data to extract useful information enabling decision support.
Design algorithms to extrapolate statistically-valid relationships from small data sets
Engage with clients to translate business needs into actionable analyses
Clearly articulate “data stories”
Build scenarios & what-if analyses
Design novel reports to provide insight into client innovation priorities, and respond to data visualization requests to support client engagements.
Develop data governance policies, and maintain people, process and technology to enable consistent data quality.
Develop and execute architecture, policies, practices and procedures to manage firm and client data needs
Review, enhance and implement surveying methodologies capable of producing statistically significant output
Review and enhance existing algorithms to enhance existing ,or enable additional, product features
Evaluate additional data sources for inclusion into existing methodologies.
Execute statistical analysis plans, design enhancements to existing reports, support ad hoc & exploratory analyses of data as required
Write technical documentation and manuals.
Assist with other projects as needed.
Strong knowledge of and applied experience in inferential and descriptive statistics, and data modeling for visual output (especially TIBCO Spotfire), preferably in a business context
Mapping data from disparate sources to create novel insights
Programming expertise in relevant statistical / algorithmic languages (such as R, S, Matlab), programming languages (PHP, Python, Java) and databases (SQL)
Experience in machine learning preferred
Ability to organize large sets of data and information into effective format to facilitate easy communication with and understanding by non-technical colleagues.
Maturity, resourcefulness, self-motivation, accountability, diligence and personal integrity.
Knowledge of Intellectual property principles, specifically patents, is preferred but not required.
Strong research skills and excellent analytic abilities.

Candidates should possess a quantitative degree in with a focus/certification in Data Analytics, Business, Data Science, Business Intelligence or similar
BA / BA and advanced degree in a related field strongly preferred
