Responsibilities
Build and maintain an automation framework
Creating continuous integration scripts for automated code releases
Strong background in Chef and writing convergent code with robust error checking
Comfortable automating both Windows and Linux (primarily CentOS) builds for high traffic web servers/services (BONUS: Linux kernel tuning experience)
Experienced with Ruby, Rails, Bash and PowerShell
Comfortable working directly with IaaS/PaaS provider APIs (BONUS: AWS, OpenStack API experience)
Tie automation into a Site Reliability Framework to maintain high levels of uptime
Automated patching of Windows and Linux servers
Develop and maintain a configuration management database
Build/augment monitoring capabilities with SCOM or Nagios
Innovate new ways of doing things, and also operationalize efforts for other support organizations to monitor and troubleshoot
Capacity management and forecasting, Scaling infrastructure to demand
Bonus : Experience running Tomcat, Apache, MySQL, OpenLDAP, ActiveMQ
Experience
4+ years automation with multiple scripting languages
2+ years supporting a mission critical online or SaaS application
2+ years supporting VMware virtualization
Skills
First and foremost, attention to detail. The candidate we choose for this role will be responsible for documenting, augmenting, maintaining a detailed accounting of the environment.
Execution orientated. You can’t stand sitting around doing nothing, and are happiest defining your own path from just a high level vision.
MCITP or MCPD certifications preferred
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or other related discipline
