Crowd Science is a quickly expanding technology company helping the best publishers in the world use data in clever ways to learn about their users and improve online advertising. We have a team of smart people - with room for few more.
We're venture funded and based in Mountain View, California, near the Googleplex.
The area: Technical Operations
Crowd Science's technical operations team designs, builds, and maintains the hardware, software and networking infrastructure that powers Crowd Science. We serve billions of requests per month across a range of services that live on EC2, Joyent, Apache, Django, Hadoop, MySQL, etc.
Crowd Science systems engineers are expected to work across functional boundaries, contribute to process development, and be on call.
The role: Systems Engineer/Dev Ops

It's still early days, so this position has a good build vs maintain mix.
The load characteristics and performance requirements of the Crowd Science service are varied and challenging. This position will include large doses of profiling and tuning across all levels of the stack. Any experience administering services similar to hosted analytics, advertising networks, or widgets would be a huge plus.
Experience designing and building infrastructure for large scale and growing internet services.
Experience maintaining and supporting a production environment.
Deep knowledge and experience in Unix systems administration, preferably Linux and/or Solaris.
Experience in database design, administration, and profiling/tuning, preferably MySQL.
Proficiency in a scripting language, preferably Python.
Experience with Nagios, Chef, Memcache, EC2, S3, Apache, Hadoop, a bonus.
Bachelors degree in computer science or mathematics, or equivalent experience
