Basis is a San Francisco-based startup focused on making the world a healthier place. Our product, the Basis Band, is a sleek, wearable device that connects to a web and mobile service and delivers personalized, science-based feedback. Our office is located in the tech-friendly SOMA district of San Francisco, close to BART/MUNI, parking, and Caltrain.
Design, scale, and maintain our hosted infrastructure
Build and maintain deployment tools that make life easier for you and the rest of the development team
Build and maintain monitoring systems to ensure high availability and let the appropriate people know when things are going wrong
Work with the rest of the development team to implement zero-downtime deployments
Help scale our database systems to handle exponential growth of physiological data
2+ years professional DevOps experience on a production web service
Expert Linux system administration skills
Thorough understanding of Nginx and/or Apache configuration
Experience with deploying and scaling web services on AWS, Rackspace, or other cloud hosting provider
Expert in using configuration management tools (e.g. Chef, Puppet)
Knowledge of monitoring tools and how to get useful data from them
Expertise in shell and Python scripting
Thrive in a fast-paced environment
Experience with NoSQL databases, especially with MongoDB.
Experience with ZeroMQ or other distributed message queues.
Experience with distributed computing.
Experience with Fabric.
Active involvement in open source projects.
Interested in health and fitness tracking
BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, or equivalent experience
