TripIt is one of the hottest startups in the Bay Area. Our award-winning travel service is at the epicenter of converging web, mobile and social technologies. We’re growing quickly and recently closed on a third-round of $7M funding. Our web and mobile service is praised by travelers and industry notables, including TechCrunch, New York Times, Wall Street Journal and by thousands of bloggers worldwide. We’ve been called “absolutely awesome”, “addictive” and “a seriously powerful travel tool.” Just search Google or Twitter for TripIt and see for yourself. Strategically, we’re an open travel platform with an API that enables the free flow of travel information. We’ve already attracted top partners like BCD Travel, LinkedIn, Google, Hotwire, Lotus, Plaxo and hundreds of developers who use our API including several of the top travel apps for the iPhone.
TripIt's API (Application Programming Interface) is already in use by hundreds of individual developers and corporate partners to power applications that utilize our travel information organization platform to do everything from expense reporting to corporate travel management. As the TripIt platform has grown and the number of partners grows with it, it has become increasingly important to have an advocate for the community within TripIt Engineering to represent and support the needs of that community.
The role of the Developer Advocate is to:
Ensure the success of our developers and partners by interacting directly with application developers in person, our API support group, and e-mail.
Be the voice within Engineering to push for new API features and enhancements that enable the building of highly compelling apps on top of the TripIt platform.
Create and execute on scalable processes to support a rapidly expanding developer community across many APIs and languages.
Provide technical support for our APIs, language bindings, and authentication mechanisms (i.e. 2-legged and 3-legged OAuth) via e-mail, phone calls, and message boards.
Create documentation and tutorials, explaining new features and best practices for integrating with TripIt.
Write code samples demonstrating how to solve common questions to start development on the right track.
Ride alongside and support our business development team as they engage with prospective partners.
Participate as a full member of the Engineering team in product review, technical design, and acceptance testing of new features and enhancements to the TripIt platform.
The Developer Advocate role reports directly to the co-founder and VP of Engineering and will work alongside TripIt's incomparable technical staff.
