Overview
Want to make a difference in the world? Want to work at a startup that helps people? www.iotaGift.com is building a crowd funding service so that people will have an easy way of getting help to receive the things they need every day, like shoes or a coat. It’s like Kickstarter but for everyday needs.
Our lean team is currently developing the website and we’d like to welcome a back-end developer to the group. For now we work remotely and stay in touch via email, Skype, and regular face-to-face meetings. Responsibilities
Coding and building the back-end functionality of our website, accommodating app elements for future use
Bug fixes, server troubleshooting, and strategic technical input
Define the appropriate architecture for the product, keeping in mind the scalability and flexibility needs
Work closely with the CEO, front-end developer, and UX designer to jointly define product milestones and deliver on them
Stay informed of competitive landscape; learn and apply best practices from industry leaders in online based self-help
Experience
2-3 years of experience developing back-end functionality with PHP or Ruby
MVC architecture knowledge
Test Driven Development
MySQL, ORM Frameworks
Git, SVN, Shell scripting
Start-Up experience is preferred
Skills
Ability to prioritize, communicate and manage projects effectively and cross-functionally
Passionate about web technologies, usability and analytics
Driven and flexible, able to change direction when necessary
Experience in or passion for helping those in need
Dedicated to constant refinement and improvement in every task you take on
Education
• BS degree in Computer Science or applicable field is preferred
