Weatherista is seeking a technical leader to join as a Director of Engineering for our weather and fashion platform that caters towards consumers in the online and mobile space. Reporting to the President & CEO, the Dir of Engineering will be a “hands on” manager heading a team of both domestic and international development teams. The incumbent shall be responsible for all of Weatherista’s engineering and technical operations relative to the product and platform. S/he will identify key industry technical and development trends to build, manage, and scale the startup’s backend operations. This role should passionately evangelize the company's mission, vision, and opportunities to all potential partners and vendors.
As an Engineering Director, you are a technical leader and motivator who is comfortable leading teams in a high-pressure, dynamic – and startup – environment. You will be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and success of our engineering projects. The ideal candidate has a strong software background preferably with Internet experience, with a track record of strong coding and individual technical accomplishments. You possess an entrepreneurial drive, and a demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and fast paced environment.
Weatherista is an online weather and fashion information destination start up based in the heart of downtown San Francisco area. We show users what to wear based on the weather via 3-D avatars and then let them shop (from our over one thousand retail partners) directly from the avatar. We provide fashion and weather forecasts for over 70,000 locations around the world. Our vision is to become the leader of bringing interactive weather and fashion both to direct-to-consumer (D2C) and business-to-business (B2B) ecosystems.
Weatherista has raised funding from a Bay area venture firm along with Angel investors. (PR to be coming soon.) We have hired serial entrepreneur Saji Johnson (who recently sold AdLocal to Yahoo JP) to head the venture.
We are in hiring mode and seeking a highly independent, assertive, and confident self-starter who has a strong sense of the engineering and development urgency and embraces an entrepreneurial environment.
Hands on development in all areas is a requirement - initially.
Writing and review code is compulsory.

Minimum of 2 -5 years in the media and online interactive space.
Minimum of 5-7 years of coding and code review.
Minimum of 3-5 years of management experience.
Sold and senior engineering skills applicable to web development, ecommerce, social media.
Knowledge of Java, PHP, HTML, web technologies.
Experience of latest development methodologies like SCRUM, LAMP, etc.
Minimum of 2 years managing remote teams.
Management record shows consistent ability to build platforms and structured engineering operational processes.
Good communication, organization and project management skills
Both the desire and ability to be a hands-on technical director are a must for this role.
Previous experience working in a startup and entrepreneurial environment is a plus.
Bachelors or higher ed.
