Director Solution Architecture

Overview
OneView Commerce, Inc. is an innovative, privately funded retail software provider that recently launched our application suite in North America. We are bidding to become a leading supplier of retail applications, based on our team's previous success in this market. We specialize in retail solutions with a difference by providing the ability to innovate on demand. OneView is based just south of Boston and the management team is comprised of industry veterans with experience in all aspects of software operations.

Note: This position will be based in our Boston headquarters . No relocation will be provided. No visa sponsorship. This position will require travel up to 50% of the time.

Responsibilities
The candidate for this position will be a key member of our management team and must be able to demonstrate an ability to work in a fast paced start up environment, be team-oriented, possess top quality leadership skills, effective project management skills, and enjoy customer-facing opportunities. The candidate will participate in pre-sales, delivery and future direction of our Enactor Retail Suite and will be presented with challenging, yet rewarding career growth opportunities. The candidate must also be able to plan, lead, architect, and provide hands-on delivery of our solution from beginning to end.
Become a product expert in our SOA-based Enactor Business Process Toolkit
Develop and deliver the system architectural design documents
Present and defend architectural designs to both client and staff
Lead implementations that include both multiple internal and external resources
Work closely with development team in the UK to scope out requirements for the North American retail industry
Mentor staff as we scale to support our customer base
Research strategic technologies and recommend future directions
Work closely with the executive team to scope out and drive new technology direction
Present technical concepts to our prospects
Clearly articulate current architecture, technology, and functionality
Assist with technical issues on projects and work with development to resolve
Accurately estimate project resource and manpower requirements for customers
Experience
10+ years of overall development experience
5+ years in SOA and Web Services
5+ years in operating systems including Unix (Solaris, AIX HP-UX) and Windows Server
Minimum of 6 years of experience in enterprise architecture, systems integration, and package implementation experience
Experience providing a vision to the total solution and designing a comprehensive solution leading toward a common vision
Full Life Cycle Experience
Industry background in retail a must.
Prior consulting experience is preferred.
Skills
Strong Java programming skills including the use of Java 1.5 language features
Database Development on MSSQL, Oracle or MySQL using SQL and JDBC
Working knowledge of XML, XML Schema and XSLT
Web Development - JSP, Servlets, JavaScript
Working knowledge of at least one J2EE container such as Tomcat, JBoss, Websphere or Weblogic.
Analytical and problems solving skills
Effective use of design patterns and unit testing frameworks
Familiarity with J2EE application frameworks such as Spring, Struts etc
Education
- Master's degree in Computer Science preferred or related discipline.
Compensation
Commensurate with experience.
