We are seeking an experienced, analytical and detail-oriented real estate professional to lead the company’s business development efforts. Your priority will be to forge and develop high impact partnerships for the inventory/supply side of our marketplace. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Business Development will be responsible for sourcing, underwriting, managing and maximizing real estate debt and equity products and opportunities to market on the RealtyShares Platform. You will be focused on identifying potential partners that can greatly scale our business and inventory, then shepherding these opportunities from prospect to long-term client. You will be a key member of our senior team, working with the founders and other leadership team members on key strategy, growth and execution issues. Strong work ethic and positive attitude is a must!
Lead the sourcing of new investment opportunities (both debt and equity) that are consistent with the business objectives of the Company;
Prepare, underwrite and present all new debt and equity investment opportunities to the RealtyShares leadership team;
Work with the Executive Team to develop a scalable method for onboarding and underwriting real estate investment submissions;
Build and maintain business relationships and partnerships across a diverse range of real estate sponsors, borrowers and investors;
Work with the executive team on recruiting qualified team members to help manage and grow the inventory/supply side of the RealtyShares marketplace.
5-7 years of experience in sourcing and evaluating a diverse set of real estate products;
Real estate acquisitions experience for private or public firm;
Very strong understanding of real estate finance and the ability to quickly determine whether or not prospective investments and/or partnerships are worth further consideration;
Good understanding of the private real estate investor psychology;
Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively.
Self-starter with ability to think creatively and in terms of scale;
Experience working with small teams and ability to roll up sleeves and both create and execute upon inventory creation and development strategy;
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills and a very strong command of written and spoken language.
Experience working with startups and high growth companies;
Financial services and/or consumer internet experience.
JD or MBA from top tier national school preferred
