Director of Engineering

at Main Street Labs in San Francisco, CA   —   Jul 17, 2014   |  
Main Street is looking to add a seasoned, enthusiastic Engineering Director to our fast growing team. As a key part of the leadership team, you’ll have the ability to both set and implement technical strategy, as well as experiment and try new & innovative things directly in the marketplace. You'll have full responsibility over the engineering team including leading its growth as we continue to expand.
Delivering high-quality, performant, solutions quickly.
Building scalable and reusable infrastructure to support a quickly evolving fast growing product.
Working closely with engineers to solve critical engineering problems.
Solving all complex, challenging and interesting problems.
5+ years experience writing high performance server code in Python and C/C++ for Linux/Unix.
Experience designing large-scale client/server architecture.
Ability to work independently with little supervision.
Personality to persuade, discuss, and mentor, as well as collaborate and be open-minded.
A strong foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
Strong quantitative skills and an analytical, data-driven mindset.
Experience with NoSQL and relational database design and scaling.
Background in machine learning techniques and experience working with very large data sets.
Previous experience with local or geo-related products a plus
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (MS/PhD preferred)
