The Director of the Hub is responsible for the direction and performance of the Hub and its activities, both within Israel and in the UK. The Director will develop the Hub’s strategy, targets and performance metrics. The Director will have specific responsibility for fund-raising, communication, and the financial sector..
The Director of the Hub will also be responsible for managing three full-time members of staff - Associate level Managers working in digital, cleantech and biotech sectors.
Steering the operations and development of the Hi Tech Hub
Helping to define the scope and goals of the Hub
Setting goals and targets for the Hub, relating to; Israel + UK companies contacted, partnerships forged, investments made, PR coverage, developing in-house events and participating in external events
Developing and implementing a communication strategy in both Israel and the UK
Identifying, and participating in, presenting and speaking opportunities
Alongside HM Ambassador, represent the Hub at events, seminars, round tables etc
Managing the three full-time Hub members; setting individual targets, and overseeing operations
Ensuring that the Hub works in line with the overall strategy of the Embassy, working alongside Embassy staff to further the Hub’s promotion and development – i.e act as an ambassador for the Hub externally and internally
Fundraise on the Hub’s behalf – bringing in capital to drive the Hub’s activities, including writing proposals and bids for any FCO funds or other sources of funding
Conceive of and organize networking and informational events and seminars, attracting the best industry players with the aim of positioning the Hub in the Israeli hi tech scene
Develop a strategy for bringing Israeli tech companies to UK capital markets, and for interesting UK investors in Israeli tech.
8+ years working in management, consulting, business development, venture capital, project management or start-up
Experience of working in a start-up a strong plus
Experience forming and managing a team is a necessity
Must be comfortable with technology, including familiarity with internet, mobile, and other consumer web technologies
Knowledge of biotech and cleantech/greentech sectors also valuable
Demonstrated success in developing programs and partnerships from the ground up to result in significant positive impact on a product or company
Experience in fundraising or venture capital is a plus
Knowledge of, and experience with, both UK and Israel companies, business landscapes and cultures
Highly motivated and able to work independently
Creative problem solver
Flawless written and verbal communication skills
Strong business acumen
Ability to drive ambiguous objectives into clear goals and tasks
Ability to steer, motivate and manage a team
