Overview
MakerBot electrical engineers architect, design and test the electronics for MakerBot products.
Responsibilities
Design and layout of electronic systems at the PCB level
Ability to create specifications for electronics systems, and to validate and demonstrate adherence to those specifications
Researches and evaluates components
Research and specify system level components like power supplies, motors, wiring harnesses and displays
Works closely with mechanical and manufacturing engineering to design at a system level
Writes and executes test plans at the design and production phases
Leads products through EMC and safety certification testing
Develops documentation for other engineers, technicians, production, and customers
Experience
Experience with Altium Designer
Experience programming embedded systems
Expertise with electrical test and measurement tools
Skills
Familiarity with design for SMT machine assembly
C or C++
Attention to detail
Excellent communication skills
Spoken/Written English
Experience with electromechanical systems, preferably motor drive systems is a plus
Experience with 3D printer systems is a plus
Education
BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
