Overview
Virtual Instruments, a fast-growing leader in virtual infrastructure optimization solutions for the Global 2000, is looking for a highly talented, proven engineering technician to join the hardware engineering department working on Storage Area Networks. This position will be based out of the corporate headquarters location in San Jose, CA.
Responsibilities
Debug and repair complex high speed circuit boards
Execute testing of electrical boards and full systems
Maintain lab test equipment and ensure proper calibration
Build and maintain network equipment racks
Mechanical prototyping
Board assembly and rework
Component and material ordering
Experience
Typically requires 6+ years of experience as an engineering technician
Experience with oscilloscopes, signal generators, DVM, and power supplies
Able to read and understand board schematics and layouts
Able to trouble-shoot down to component level and fix boards utilizing SFP, FPGA, DDR, PCIe, SERDES, and power supplies
Experience configuring and using network equipment
Must possess excellent soldering skills
Proficient in Excel, Word, and Power Point
Strong problem solving and communication skills
Education
AA or 2-year technical degree is required.
