Enterprise Architect ( Java J2EE Groovy Grails)

Amplify Learning is creating exciting new curriculum that reinvents teaching and learning in the core subjects of English Language Arts, Math, and Science. These products combine interactive game-like experiences with analytics that meet the rigorous demands of the CCSS. Amplify is looking for a bright, talented Enterprise Architect to join our team in New York. Enterprise architects are responsible for defining the high level architecture of our curriculum delivery platform and services. Enterprise architects work closely with our feature implementation teams to build consensus around architectural direction and provide guidance to those teams during implementation. Additionally enterprise architects work closely with our curriculum subject matter experts to understand the evolving needs of our curriculum and how it translates into evolving our architecture over time. Responsibilities of the Enterprise Architect:

As part of a cross-functional software team, you'll be commissioned with delivering new and innovative platforms, products, and/or product functions for schools, districts, and states across the country
Work with technology leadership and product management to define the systems architecture for products that align to strategic business goals as well as technology principles and practices.
Work with application architects in agile feature teams to build consensus around overall system architecture and provide implementation guidance as needed
Contribute to continuous improvement of software development best practices in the areas of coding tools, languages and APIs, as well as software design and development processes
Assist in interviewing, hiring, and retaining the best software development talent


Basic Qualifications of the Enterprise Architect:

BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
10+ years of professional software development experience
4+ years of leading the technical architecture and design of systems
Proven experience and understanding of the JVM ecosystem
Proven understanding of Java, Spring, and ORM
Proven experience with data modeling
Taste for simplicity and elegance in technical architecture and implementation, as well as a pragmatic approach to software architecture
Proven experience architecting systems optimized for cloud deployment
Proven experience with large scale system architecture
Wide breadth of knowledge of technology stacks and frameworks, and an understanding of their strengths and weaknesses
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
Proven experience in identifying the right tools for the right job
Proven experience of understanding business drivers and strategy


Preferred Qualifications of the Enterprise Architect:

Experience in EdTech (Educational Technology) industry a big plus but not necessary
Proven experience building a scalable micro-services based architecture
Proven experience with Java/J2EE and Groovy on Grails
Proven experience with AngularJS
Proven experience with NoSQL databases
Proven experience with full stack development
Proven experience in optimizing for a mobile web experience
Proven experience with Big Data tools and techniques
