Tough Mudder (www.toughmudder.com), an exciting new New York-based Harvard Business School start-up which organizes mass participation endurance races, seeks event planners to expand our series of events to 12 US cities.
A Tough Mudder event combines a 7 mile mud run with military style obstacles. We market ourselves as the toughest one day event on the planet. Using purely viral marketing, our first event in Pennsylvania sold out all 5,000 places in just 37 days. We have similar sized events scheduled for Texas and California in the fall, which we also predict to sell out.
We are in the process of finding 12 additional race venues across the US for our 2011 series, and we are looking for 3-4 event planners to assist us in finding locations and subsequently manage all elements of the production of an individual event. For a detailed list of planned locations, please visit our 2011 Event Calendar on our website.
Successful applicants will join a youthful team of 6-10 dynamic, dedicated, enthusiastic, team-orientated professionals. Positions will be based in New York City, but will involve extensive travel across the US. After a short training period in New York, successful applicants will travel in pairs across the US, screening potential venues and negotiating terms with venue owners.
Once venues are agreed upon, event planners will be based in New York and manage all aspects of the execution of individual events and will report directly to the CEO (Harvard MBA) and COO.
