Gtrot.com is a Cambridge-based web startup founded by two recent Harvard graduates. Our site aims to revolutionize the online travel space by combining powerful social features with traditional travel booking tools. We recently took top prize in a major competition for Harvard entrepreneurs and closed our first round of angel investment. Our recent launch attracted substantial media attention, including coverage by The New York Times. We are adding to our development team to speed production of new features and accommodate growth.
We’re looking to hire one or two exceptional back-end software engineers to join our team full-time in Cambridge, MA. The position requires expertise developing in a LAMP environment.
As an integral member of our small, agile team, you will be a full-fledged partner in this exciting endeavor.
object-oriented development in PHP5 (using the Symfony framework) with MySQL
working side-by-side with front-end programmers to assist with database interfacing
maintaining Linux-based servers
developing in a distributed, version controlled (Git) environment
back-end programming for database-intensive web applications, preferably in an entrepreneurial environment and in small-team settings. Familiarity with the Symfony framework a big plus.
past experience maintaining and scaling complex databases
past experience with server management and the deployment process
past experience with the implementation of 3rd party APIs
Expert knowledge of PHP5, MySQL
High level of proficiency in Linux-based server management
Great teamwork skills
Strong work ethic and passion for programming
College degree in computer science a plus
