Virtual Instruments, a fast-growing leader in virtual infrastructure optimization solutions for the Global 2000, is looking for highly talented, proven individuals to join the Systems Engineering department working on Storage Area Networks. This position will be based out of the corporate headquarters location in San Jose, CA.
FPGA design and verification for high speed network hardware.
The Engineer will own full FPGA development including concept, micro-architecture, block level RTL, verification, synthesis, place and route, bring-up, debug, and sustaining product support.
The Engineer will work with system software to define and implement diagnostic testing into FPGA.
7+ years of FPGA design and verification experience
Proficient in Verilog, System Verilog, C/C++, and scripting languages (Perl / Python)
Must have taken multiple large FPGA designs from concept into production.
Familiar with some of the following: SERDES, DDR3, PCIe, Fibre Channel, FCoE, Ethernet, TCP/IP
Ability to take high level design requirements and optimally implement into Altera FPGA architecture.
Optimize FPGA synthesis and place & route tools for performance.
Experience with timing closure using SDC or equivalent
Experience with block level and full chip verification, reference models, and automated test suites.
Understanding of high speed board design techniques a plus
Experience with hands-on lab bring-up and debug is required.
Ability and desire to mentor junior engineers.
Ability to plan and execute on project milestones
Strong problem solving and communication skills.
BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required; MS preferred
