Founding Engineer / Lead Developer

SiteJabber is a consumer protection service which helps people avoid fraudulent websites and find good ones. SiteJabber's goal is to make the internet a better place for consumers by improving online transparency and eliminating online fraud. Founded by Stanford and Harvard alumni, SiteJabber is financed by leading technology investors including Dave McClure and a grant from the National Science Foundation. Launched in July 2009, SiteJabber has served over one million consumers and is growing rapidly.
You will be the first engineering hire
Lead the engineering team in all aspects of software development
Work closely with the founders to architect and build an exciting new consumer web application
Architect application with strong focus on performance and scaleability
Establishing proper development frameworks and best practices
Grow, develop, and manage the engineering team over time
3-5 years experience building highly scaleable web applications at a startup
Strong experience with all web technologies (LAMP, CSS, Javascript, AJAX, etc.)
Passion for coding and for being very hands on all aspects of development lifecycle
Deep familiarity with rapid, iterative development best practices
Intuitive understanding of successful consumer internet products
Quick learner, self-motivated, and able to work both on a team and individually
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, intense, but very fun environment
Desire to make a meaningful impact in reducing online fraud and protecting consumers (cape and tights optional)
BS or MS in Computer Science or similar
Compensation will consist of significant equity and a competitive salary and benefits package.
