Overview
You'll be part of our engineering and design team building the forward-facing part of our platform. Your skills will help students all across the world interact with educational content and learn in new ways.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Frontend engineer, you will work with the other engineering and visual design teams to build modern, cross-browser web pages and HTML elements. As the most visible part of our engineering efforts, you will be a part of the design process from brainstorm to delivery, serving as mentor and teacher to interns and other members of the dev team about your work.
Experience
HTML5, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, Canvas, APIs (Google | Facebook | Twitter)
Tracking (Omniture | Google Analytics)
Client-side MVC / OO JavaScript
Architecture and optimization of web based applications
Developing cross platform/browser compatibility (IE, Firefox, mobile web, etc.) for dynamic web applications
Web standards and best practices for load time reduction and accessibility
Version control (Git, Mercurial, Subversion)
Understanding and respect for user experience
Desire to learn new technologies and work outside of your comfort zone
Experience translating designs and wireframes into flexible and reusable code templates
Skills
Mobile HTML Development (iPhone | iPad | Android)
HTML Templating Frameworks (Freemarker | Mako | Handlebars)
HTML/CSS/JS Minimization Frameworks
CSS Preprocessing frameworks (LESS | SASS)
Education
Minimum of 3+ years of industry experience ideally in a startup environment
Portfolio of currently active, accessible websites with a clear description of your contributions is a plus
