Front-End Javascript Developer

at Mashwork in New York, NY   —   Apr 29, 2013   |
Overview
We are Mashwork.

We are a 12 person social media intelligence start-up in midtown NYC, and we are looking to hire a web app developer.

Ever wake up at 4am because you finally figured out how to fix that bug? Does ugly code make you hurt inside? Does creating something no one has ever made before make you giddy with excitement? If so, you could be our next developer.

So why do we want you? We are building an industry-leading social media intelligence platform based on a few guiding principles:

• Simplify what’s complex
• Put everything in context
• Connect through beautiful design
• Empower you to take action

This philosophy and our hard work over the past 2 and a half years has led us to becoming the listening firm of choice for brands like HBO, Subway, Ticketmaster, Starwood Hotels and 60 others! All thanks to our clear, concise, beautiful, and actionable reports.

But static reports are not enough! Our data analytics can be better, more innovative, and provide superior solutions to our clients. Which is why we're building some ridiculously cool web tools based around some shiny new patent-pending technology. This technology has been developed by a world-class team. Our VP of Engineering built Kosmix's main product Tweetbeat from the ground up (sold to Walmart Labs for $300M). Our Chief Scientist is a 3-degree-having, award-winning, algorithm-writing mad-man and professor at NYU.

Come work alongside us and help expand our team of brilliant developers, designers, and analysts. Your work will be essential to the growth of Mashwork!

Here's what we need from you:

• Extremely passionate about and completely obsessed with building amazing products
• Refuse to believe that something can’t be improved
• Care deeply about the user’s experience
• Completely fluent and comfortable with JavaScript and a variety of JS libraries (personal preferences are welcome, teach us!)
• Working knowledge or experience with data visualization, and willing to learn even more (d3.js or raphael.js is a HUGE plus)
• Comfortable with MVC apps built in PHP or Ruby-on-Rails

Mashwork is as good as its people. We do team lunches a lot, monthly events like bowling, booze cruises, beer pong and other cool stuff. And we offer complete medical and benefit packages. We do our best to take care of our people. And when the company does well, you do well.

Your compensation includes a competitive salary and meaningful equity ownership.

Joining a startup means having a high-risk tolerance, being an all-around go-getter who will do whatever it takes to get the job done. The rewards that come with it are pretty spectacular, but you have to be down for the cause.

Interested?
