Wheeldown is shaking up the auto industry by creating an easier more efficient way to buy a car at the best possible price. We need a lead designer to conceptualize and implement the overall site design and user experience.
The ideal candidate is an expert at developing solutions which are strong, attractive, fresh, intuitive and user-friendly. You’ll be expected to break down complex ideas into experiences that are effortlessly simple and intuitive
Candidates must be able to show examples of how they solved complicated problems without burdening users with complexity. You will be expected to send a portfolio or sample of your work (including wireframes and design specs when possible)

Responsibilities
Creates the visual appearance, determines the information architecture and navigation, and organizes information for complex user interfaces by applying techniques which support iterative design (e.g. story-boards, flowcharts, wire-frames or interactive mockups).
Translates design requirements/models into usable code (e.g. HTML, CSS, jQuery, ajax, javascript) and works directly with the developers to incorporate the design into the overall software implementation.
Work on marketing campaigns which may include developing landing pages, advertising banners, and email campaigns.
Lead the design effort for our applications on Facebook our blog and other Social Media outlets.
Perform AB Testing to determine effectiveness of design solutions.

Graphics applications such as Adobe Creative Suite and Fireworks
Web design applications such as Adobe GoLive, Dreamweaver and BBEdit
Design, diagramming and flowcharting applications such as OmniGraffle and Visio
translating design requirements/models into usable code (HTML, XHTML, CSS, jQuery, ajax, javascript)
understanding of W3C and Section 508 web standards
This position requires a deep understanding and passion for UI / UX, a keen eye for details in layout and design, as well as creative product vision in the realm of Web 2.0 and beyond
Advanced design/creative skills in website UI design and aesthetic layouts
Ability to translate verbal or written concepts into visually stunning layouts
Compensation
We're all working on equity only compensation until the first funding event.
Will consider alternate arrangements for the right person...deferred pay+equity, Contract work +equity
