Isis, a mobile and contactless payments start-up, is striving to revolutionize how consumers shop and pay with mobile devices. As a “game-changer” and innovator in mass-market mobile commerce Isis is building a creative, dynamic, flexible, and results-oriented Devices Team. Isis is seeking an experienced, analytical and enthusiastic Handset Systems Engineer who will work directly with major Mobile Network Operators in the U.S. and handset OEMs to facilitate the selection, validation, and qualification of new makes/models of cellular handsets for the ISIS mobile payments service.
This position is also responsible for assessing the viability of new handsets supporting ISIS mobile payments, including smart phone operating platform requirements validation, test suites and related tools for extending into additional operating platforms, and ISIS mobile wallet installation and testing in conjunction with the selected NFC configuration. Finally, integration testing and problem resolution related to EMVCo approved contactless payment terminals is also required to help in addressing and mitigating problems in field to facilitate high consumer adoption of mobile payments. Candidate must bring curiosity and rigor toward identifying issues and working to propose technical diagnosis and solutions to rectify them.
Level 2 compliance approval for new native NFC handsets -- execute all phases of pre-qualification and full functionality testing toward expanding the number of addressable handsets for ISIS mobile payments
Work with handset manufacturers to verify ROM requirements – this typically involves additional software stacks for NFC, secure communications to the UICC, and additional security requirements
Validation of UICC compliance – new UICC’s employ not only a telephony profile but a Secure Element configuration which must be validated when carriers look to procure from new sources, or update existing profiles – this position is responsible for creating and executing SE Assurance processes and test plans
Contactless payment transactions – use of ISO 14443 contactless NFC capable handsets in versatility and combination testing against commercially available contactless payment terminals – candidate also must work to identify and address compatibility issues with various payment and other applets, when used with commercial EMVCo approved readers. Become familiar with ISO 14443 and ISO 7816 specifications.
Update compliance test plans, test cases, and test reports. Document compliance issues in the defect tracking database, including all supporting defect data such as debug logs, traces etc. Perform retest of issues when resolved, and update test results where necessary
Definition and design of test suites/programs to validate satisfactory operation and performance of major hardware/software NFC and Secure Element communications functions across Android, iOS, Windows Phone 8, and Blackberry OS 10.
Resolve device specific issues in production which are identified by the customers within the defined SLA. Provide support during production deployment by validating that the commercially available devices continue to function after the deployment.
Minimum 2 years of engineering experience working with cellular technology and mobile applications, preferably at a Mobile Network Operator or a major handset manufacturer
Experience with NFC and/or wireless or payment card industry, and/or EMVCo processes is highly desirable
Smart card industry security / Secure Element security experience highly desirable.
Working experience with Single Wire Protocol HCI/HCP, Bearer Independent Protocol (BIP) desired
Programming experience on any of the top smart phone operating platforms in the U.S. -- e.g. Android, iPhone OS, RIM, Windows 7 desired to help maintain and extend various test suites highly desired
Experience in generating test plans, test cases and documenting test defects.
Experience in using QA tools such as HP Quality Center, Bugzilla and/or JIRA.
Contactless payment terminal testing / point of sale integration experience desired but not a primary function of this position
Experience in project management, test management, release management, and quality analysis.
Proven experience base in testing mobile hardware and software
Strong analytical and software abilities, with knowledge of software development tools and techniques.
Ability to work in a start-up environment and a passion for developing great products is highly valued.
Excellent interpersonal communication and documentation skills.
Must possess solid organization abilities and be a motivated, flexible team player.
BA/BS in information technology or relevant field of work or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience.
