Responsibilities
Hire, develop, and retain top board design and optics talent.
Create and promote hardware and optics development process that encourages innovation and sets high standards for quality and productivity.
Plan projects by leading the team to scope deliverables, provide estimates, and manage resource allocation across multiple product lines and releases.
Develop schedules and actively own and manage the development by identifying and mitigating risk to deliver on time with high quality.
Candidate will own full board development including concept, specification, schematic design, layout, bring-up, debug, manufacturing release and sustaining product support.
Write and maintain hardware and optics functional specifications and design and integration documents. Work with system software team to define and implement on-board diagnostic testing.
Manage external vendor selection and qualification process.
Experience
7+ years of experience in hardware engineering (board design and optics) with 3+ years of management experience.
Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to motivate and mentor senior level engineering staff.
Expert in high speed (>10Gbps) board design, PCB layout, and optics.
Candidate should have a solid understanding of high speed signal integrity.
Experience designing some of the following: Altera FPGAs, SERDES, DDR2, DDR3, PCI Express, Fibre Channel, FCoE, SATA, SAS, SSD, Xeon processors, server mother board, power supply, microcontrollers
Previous experience with compliance testing required.
Experience with hands-on lab bring up and debug.
Need to be able to estimate and schedule projects.
Strong problem solving and communication skills.
Education
BSEE required; MSEE preferred.
