Head of Business Development

Overview is looking for a new Head of Business Development to lead and oversee the development and growth of a new project. This position will develop and maintain effective relationships with Internet Retailer 500 e-commerce companies. In coordination with the Chief Executive Officer this position will be responsible for all aspects of growing, managing, and motivating a Business Development team. The Head of Business Development will also ensure business growth though the direction and management of business development activities to ensure these are delivered in accordance with the organizational strategy.

Responsible to: Chief Executive Officer
External Relationships: Internet Retailer 500 Companies and New Fast Scaling E-commerce Companies
Internal Relationships: The Business Development Team, Senior Management, Advisory Board
Salary: Commission of new business profit and equity stake. Negotiable.
Location: San Diego, CA or Santa Monica, CA

Contribute to the development and refinement of the’s vision and strategy
Support the overall process of management and corporate decision making to ensure the company maximizes its short, medium and long-term profitability and shareholder returns
Liaise with other executive heads on the implementation of the company’s strategic and operational plans
Develop, review, and report on the business development division’s strategy, ensuring the strategic objectives are well understood, executed, measured, and communicated by the team
Impact the profitability of the company through ensuring strategic and tactical management decisions and new business development results
Perform competitor and market analysis
Develop and lead the Business Development team in sourcing, managing and implementing new business opportunities
Maintain and strengthen the company’s culture, values and reputation in its markets with all staff, customers, partners, advisory board, and investors
Build and lead an effective cohesive business development team utilizing Lean Startup strategies and use of daily standups/ SCRUM meetings
Self development and continuing personal development
3 - 5 Years in Mid-Level/ Senior Level Business Development Role
Strong network of people in e-commerce and/ or the tech startup space
Knowledge of e-commerce operations
Good project and time management skills
Knowledge of business and management principles
Knowledge of Lean Startup principles
Proactive communicator
Strong analytical skills
Organizational skills
Leadership skills
Ability to work collaboratively
BA/ MA in a related field
Commission of new business profit and equity stake. Negotiable.
