Information Systems Manager

CED (Council for Entrepreneurial Development) is the largest support organization in the southeast focused exclusively on helping high-growth, high-impact companies gain traction and grow. Located in the American Underground on the American Tobacco Campus in Durham, NC, CED supports innovators throughout the Research Triangle and North Carolina.
CED has received a substantial grant from our community partners at NCIDEA to build the “big brain” for the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. This big brain data set will be housed on the Salesforce.com platform and is intended to collect, synthesize and turn into actionable knowledge all aspects of the ecosystem, from company profiles (see triangulatenc.com) and metrics, to active investments, mentors, service providers and support organizations. In addition to promoting companies and the region’s activity, the output from this system will allow CED to better connect resources to the companies that are transforming the RTP region.
CED is looking for a take-charge person to assume a new role of Information Manager. This is a high profile role and is critical to CED’s ability to successfully meet its mission. The role requires someone who not only can see the big picture and think strategically, but also is tech savvy and detail oriented. This person will work closely with the entire CED team to implement, oversee and optimize a robust database using Salesforce.com. We are looking for someone who gets excited about supporting innovators and entrepreneurs.

Skills
Analytical skills and comfort with data, metrics and statistical methods
Proficiency and experience as a system administrator of the Salesforce.com platform, including such components as custom objects/fields, reports and dashboards, workflow and validation rules, security and sharing model, etc.
Experience working with an internal or external developer team to coordinate work on Apex and Visualforce and other related development platforms.
Data transformation and migration experience, including normalization using data manipulation tools such as Excel, SQL databases or similar.
Flexibility to meet continuously changing priorities and challenges
Excellent communication and people skills- ability to turn data into insights and insights into publishable reports
A customer focus by being action oriented and committed to driving quality results
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new process and technologies in order to meet business needs and drive business value
Technical needs include:
Serving as system administrator for a significantly customized Salesforce.com database including maintenance of existing configuration, user support, monitoring of data quality
Identifying, evaluating, coordinating and integrating with third party applications and data sources
Developing custom reports and dashboards
Maintaining and enforcing security architecture for end-users, profiles and programs
Performing imports, exports, monitoring and maintaining data quality, including de-duplication and normalization
Developing training plans, materials and documentation for users, keeping materials up-to-date, and coordinating new user and ongoing training sessions
Recommending best practices
