Working with the Database Architect you will be assisting in production support areas such as backup and recovery, database consistency checking, data loading and archival. Working with a highly transactional system, you'll gain experience monitoring and tuning a series of enterprise Oracle 11g production multi-terabyte database servers to include performing ongoing trend analysis, determining current system needs as well as future resource requirements.
Candidate should have coursework and familiarity with enterprise RDBMS systems but also should be highly motivated and willing to learn new technologies through a combination of learning on their own, learning on the job and formalized training courses. In addition to having the opportunity to work with enterprise class databases, the candidate will have opportunity to gain experience working with Netapp enterprise class storage appliances.

Be able to listen and take direction to successfully perform the tasks that are assigned to you. Not the ones you feel should be performed or seem more interesting.
Monitor system performance and quickly escalate issues if they are beyond your ability or comfort level.
Create scripts to automate processes.
Ability to create documentation to capture process flows and procedures.
Junior administration of an Oracle 11g multi-terabyte OLTP system to include installing software, setting up/configuring servers, creating instances, performing upgrades, updating the instances to the current release. There will be similar tasks in the MySQL arena.
Ideally we are looking for someone that has at least 1-2 years of experience. If you just graduated though and have database experience or even knowledge and you think you are up to the task then apply anyway. Be ready to work hard. You must be a U.S. citizen to be considered for this position and there is no relocation provided.
You are not a social ass. Startups are small and at times there can be a lot of stress so everyone needs to get along.
Degree in IT or related field. We are more interested in whether you are intelligent and have the ability and drive to learn. We could care less if you are an academic who has no real world experience.
This will be a paid position.
