Lead Developer (Ruby on Rails)

at Tasted Menu in Boston, MA   —   Apr 25, 2013   |
Overview
Tasted Menu is an online food start-up based in Boston. We’ve built and launched an ambitious new website and iPhone app that helps people find the best restaurant dishes. For a quick overview of our product, check out our intro video (http://youtu.be/OVHNEarpHFA). You can also read some of our recent press (http://techcrunch.com/2012/02/29/tasted-menu-iphone-launch).

Our core team includes veterans of Square, TripAdvisor, Google, and Harvard Business School. Our broader team includes folks hailing from institutions such as the Culinary Institute of America, the French Culinary Institute, and the James Beard Foundation; restaurant kitchens such as David Chang’s Momofuku, Grant Achatz’s Next, and Thomas Keller’s Bouchon; and media properties such as Bon Appétit, Cooks Illustrated, and Food52.

We’ve been backed to date by a group of prominent angels from both coasts, including the founders of notably successful start-ups, and are currently closing our first venture capital led round.

We’re seeking a Lead Developer to be the core member of our development team as we continue our rapid growth.
Experience
2+ years of deep, hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails.
A proven background of front-end and back-end web application development and production deployment.
Experience with transactional and marketing e-mails, performance optimization, search engine optimization, web analytics, and other key facets of public web application deployment. Services and tools we use include Heroku, Websolr, Redis, Airbrake, SendGrid, MailChimp, Google Analytics, and Pivotal Tracker.
Experience with building and maintaining mobile APIs, or comfort quickly picking up this skillset.
An enthusiasm for food and restaurants is by no means a requirement but is a notable positive. We’re not your typical ramen noodle start-up. (Unless they’re *really* good ramen noodles.)
Education
A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related disciplines.
Compensation
As a full-time employee, the Lead Developer will receive competitive start-up salary, significant equity participation, medical and dental benefits, and lots of good food.
