Overview
Looking for a great opportunity with tremendous upside? We're looking for a Lead Developer/VP of Engineering to join a New York City-based founding team. The team is led by Samer Hamadeh, Vault.com’s co-founder and former CEO who is currently an Entrepreneur-In-Residence with Lightspeed Venture Partners (Silicon Valley-based VC firm whose portfolio companies have included or include Doubleclick, Blue Nile, LifeMinders, and eHealth).
We're looking for a hardcore developer and tech leader to lead the development of a world-class web site. The developer should be able to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and be ready to dig in to do everything it takes to build a successful web site and company – code, manage, innovate, and even take out the trash if that's what it takes.
You'll lead the full development life cycle, from architecture planning to application design and coding through QA testing and delivery. You'll help build a team of in-house and remote developers to build and add to the site.

Responsibilities
Helping to plan the architecture of our platform
Hands on coding
Hiring and managing a team of top-class local and remote engineers
Serving as a technology "entrepreneur "within the organization to generate appropriate tech solutions for business goals
Working with the CEO and other managers to help plot out strategy and timelines
Experience
REQUIRED
5+ years experience architecting web applications, including 3+ years experience developing in PHP
3+ years of MySQL experience
2+ years hiring and managing engineering teams
Experience across the software development lifecycle, specifically with design, development, and testing
Experience designing, as well as interacting with, relational databases, including MySQL
Experience evaluating, working with and customizing open source CMS, CRM, and e-commerce systems
PREFERRED
Experience building user-generated content applications and top-notch social web applications
Experience with large, data-intensive sites
Experience designing applications/sites with personalization features
Previous experience leading a web launch, including planning for beta rollout, testing/QA and public launch
Experience with utilizing and building APIs and data feeds (including preferably for social media sites like Facebook and Flickr)
Experience managing remote developers
Skills
Expert in a number of web technologies, including PHP, Java, AJAX, XML, JavaScript, JQuery, HTML/CSS
Expert on a LAMP stack, including Apache, MySQL, and navigating & scripting within Linux
Updated and expert level web development skills – e.g. multi browser/platform debugging, sessions, forms
Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills
Ability and desire to pick up new technologies quickly
Education
BS/MS in Computer Science or relevant tech field; 6+ years of relevant experience may be seen as comparable.

Compensation includes salary, equity, and the chance to have "been there at founding."
