JOB MISSION

The Front End Coder / Developer will work closely with product management, UI Architect, and engineering team to drive the definition and implementation of the presentation layer of our web applications for S&D. This includes a multi-channel strategy of web applications, mobile, and community applications. You have strong skills in standards-based HTML/XHTML/XML, JavaScript, and a plus if you have actionScript as part of your arsenal. The person who accepts this challenge will be passionate about emerging technologies, and have strong alignment with our mission to deliver a great user experience that is also compelling & elegant, i.e. style befitting Stella & Dot.
Responsibilities
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Proven and demonstrable expertise with advanced JavaScript, DHTML, XML, JSON, AJAX
Familiarity with web best-practices for usability and accessibility standards
Ability to hand code HTML
Writing high-quality, maintainable, and well-documented code that also performs well
Proficiency in a server-side scripting language such as JSP or PHP
Understanding of product development lifecycle including agile/scrum
Solid understanding of cross-platform & cross-browser web development
Experience converting visual designs to HTML with an acute eye for detail and design fidelity
Experience
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Specifically, you must have:
Experience w/ AJAX JavaScript libraries (Jquery & prototype)
Excellent comprehension & use of CSS design (CSS3 and HTML5 a plus!)
Experience with PHP and smarty templates
Minimum of 5 years experience designing web-based products for a consumer-oriented website
Team player with strong interpersonal skills
Well-rounded understanding of web usability best practices and cross browser compatibility issues
Ability to solicit and incorporate diverse perspectives
Ability to effectively engage and leverage peer feedback
Eye towards detail and passion for design
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver projects on time that met expectations
Nice to have - obsession with latest web and mobile ecommerce solutions (added plus if you like fashion)
Skills
Must be self-motivated and flexible to accommodate our ever-changing environment
Excellent problem solving ability with high sense of urgency
Excellent written and verbal communication
Experience working for an on-line retailer or ecommerce company preferred (or fashion related digital media play)
Nice to have – proficient and Adobe Creative Suite
Nice to have – experience with FLASH, FLEX, and SQL but not required
Nice to have -has converted PSD to HTML for email & knows the rules and limitations of email programs
Education
BS in Computer Science or related degree
