Lead Sr. Software Engineer

Overview
We're looking for an extremely talented engineer to take charge and own the full software lifecycle including planning, implementation and deployment.

About CourseHorse: We are a discovery engine for local classes. We are a diverse team of product managers, marketing gurus and entrepreneurs, focused on empowering the community through access to education. With over 20,000 classes open for enrollment, we are the largest class marketplace in NYC. And we’re just 1 year old. Over the next year, we plan to roll out nationally and launch a whole new set of features that will revolutionalize the way people learn locally.
Responsibilities
As a critical member of the founding team, you will tackle the complex challenges of scaling architecture while also defining development methodologies and best practices. Our ideal candidate loves to code and build technology that improves people's lives.
Experience
Strong background in web application development (ecommerce a plus)
Fluency in PHP (or other dynamic language)
A solid foundation in standards based Javascript, HTML, and CSS.
Strong expertise with relational databases, preferably MySQL
Demonstrated expertise in problem solving and technical innovation
Experience with MVC framework (Zend, Symphony, etc.) is a plus
Experience with ExtJS/Sencha or other JavaScript-based frameworks is a plus
Experience with Solr, Lucene or other search engines is a plus
Experience with AWS-based infrastructures is a plus
Experience with modern APIs (Rest, SOAP)
Experience with web infrastructure and performance analysis (nice-to-have)
US citizenship or work visa
