Overview
The Mutual’s Lead Designer will be one of our first key full-time hires. We are a nimble startup and you should want to work in an environment where you will have lots of responsibility and impact on what we accomplish.

The Mutual is a social enterprise that rewards people for donating to environmental charities with Perks from great brands.
We help individuals and businesses live and operate more sustainably by connecting them to non-profit causes in a model that creates value for all three parties. The Mutual is about making it profitable, rewarding and easy to do what’s best for our planet.
The Mutual is comprised of a three-part community: individual members, partner businesses and cause partners. We have redesigned the traditional coupon and applied it to a model akin to a balanced ecosystem in which each of the three participants gives to and takes benefits from one another.
Since launching our public beta in December 2011, we have seen traction in our model and received great press by over 25 publications. We are in the early stages of growth and are looking for bright, motivated individuals to help realize the full potential of The Mutual.

Responsibilities
Lead the design effort for the existing website and future mobile experience.
Own design for customer touchpoints: email, social sites, etc.
Work closely with existing founders to refine existing experience and develop user experience for new products.
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
Opportunity to manage 1-2 other staff or an intern.
Experience
4 years+ Photoshop
3 years+ doing website design
A/B or user testing the effectiveness of different designs and user experiences
Very strong communication
Ability to provide examples of design experience.
Bonus Points: prior experience in a startup environment
Bonus Points: Mobile design experience
Bonus Points: HTML / CSS implementation experience
Extra Bonus Points: Ability to code in Javascript
Education
Bachelors degree or higher.
Compensation
Mix of salary and equity.
