Literacy Coach (Mississippi)

The Literacy Consultant will be part of a school literacy team who will support the staff in the use of Amplify’s methodology, the Common Core State Standards and other proven strategies to boost student reading achievement through a year - long program of intensive, onsite support.

Responsibilities of the Literacy Coach:

Coach school leadership teams and teachers in analyzing data and using data to inform instruction
Support data coaches and instructional coaches with implementation of the Common Core State Standards and facilitate meetings of Professional Learning Communities
Model whole group and small group literacy instruction
Observe teacher practice and provide feedback to individual teachers
Travel to schools daily to deliver services and build strong relationships
Participate in Amplify’s consultant certification process

Basic Qualifications of the Literacy Coach:

Masters of Education degree
5+ years of content writing experience specifically for Professional Development within a University
Proven knowledge of effective instructional strategies and practices, including methods of differentiating instruction and fostering participant engagement
Demonstrated data analysis skills

Preferred Qualifications of the Literacy Coach:

Ability to model effective instruction for whole class and small groups
Experience with cognitive coaching, meeting facilitation, and adult training
Instructional leadership experience preferred
Demonstrated data analysis skills
