Responsibilities
Participates in the development of education and assist LogixHealth with implementing the goal to deliver an educational experience that is complete, concise and provides an exceptional product to our clients. This is accomplished through the education of coders both new to LogixHealth and continued educational experiences offered to the coding support staff.
Develop and implement phase (s) of ED pro /facility training with coders
Structure the coder in training progression by instructing the coder based on the core competencies model of LogixHealth ED pro/facility educational program
Teach, assess, evaluate and identify comments to project coder transition to the live production coder environment
Assist the coder in training with balancing “quality” of their coding and “quantity” number of charts per hour:
monitor daily chart count, and schedule commitment (25 hours minimum)
continuously review the hours submitted in relation to the numbers of charts coded daily
counsel and provide a detailed follow up summary published to the Associate Director of Education and in the New Coder Progress Booklet:
Updates Coder Booklets:
maintain the coder booklets with the most up to date information as the coder progresses through training
follow up with the coder in training and provide relevant updates and as applicable attach live commentary sent to the coder to accurately represent interaction and progress of training
publish the coders in training scheduled hours weekly in order to plan the appropriate phase of training expectations
New Coder –Training Set Up and Transition to Live:
schedule and set up new coder in training orientation in collaboration with Associate Director
send all educational material from LogixHealth that allows the coder to receive, review, and prepare (printing of material) for conference calls with Manager
Experience
Prior word processing, spreadsheet and internet software experience preferred
Prior Emergency Department specific coding background with a familiarity of different types of chart constructs is preferred.
Skills
Ability to organize and prioritize information with a strong attention to detail
Ability to facilitate the education opportunities for established coders
Ability to work with several new coders at the same time
Ability to assess/evaluate skills for many aspects of coder education
Ability to multi-task and remain calm in a stressful fast paced environment
Ability to identify and solve problems
Ability to be flexible and possess a positive attitude while viewing problems as an opportunity for improvement
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with clients, members of management and employees.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree or certification or equivalent combination of education and experience
