Mechanical Design Engineer

Do you thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment? Do you enjoy rapidly prototyping new consumer products in a small team without bureaucratic oversight? Do you like to get your hands dirty and learn constantly while tackling new challenges?

We are seeking an exceptional mechanical engineer to join our fast-paced consumer product design start-up in Cambridge, MA. You will be responsible for the engineering design of new products, from brainstorming ideas through prototyping models to manufacturing product.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering background, have experience in consumer product design, feels at home in a machine shop, knows the ins and outs of SolidWorks, and is highly self-motivated. Bonus points if you have expertise in: power electronics, material selection or manufacturing.

This is a contract position, with the possibility of future full time employment, for about 20 hours a week. Hourly rate is negotiable and based on experience.
Responsibilities
Mechanical design of new products
3D modeling in SolidWorks
Build and test prototypes
Design for manufacturing
Brainstorm innovative solutions to challenging problems
Work closely with a small team
Clearly communicate ideas
