MySQL Database Administrator

Overview
Mindspark is looking for a seasoned Database Administrator who's looking to leverage cutting edge database technologies in a fast moving team oriented environment. In this position, you will be involved in all phases of the database operations lifecycle: requirement analysis, design, implementation, testing, and production support.

Responsibilities:

•Participate as team member in database design and management for all Mysql, Postgres, and Oracle databases
•Key functions include: create well designed databases, review and optimize queries, help improve disaster recovery plan
•Work closely with the application development teams to ensure consistent and scalable database design
•Recommend and advise on the underlying hardware and software infrastructure needed to ensure optimal performance of business critical databases
•Provide technical guidance on issues relating to the storage and security of the databases and its business impact
•Proactively recommend technical and process improvements to optimize database performance that drives business applications

Additional Requirements:

•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 5+ years of Apps DBA experience on Relational Database Application (EBS) environments
•Experience designing, developing and supporting high performance, availability database systems (MySQL, Postgres,Oracle), preferably on Linux or Unix platforms
•Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to research the capabilities of open source database solutions and to perform product-neutral, business-driven cost benefit analysis of the company’s database options
•Experience with local and remote data replication and high availability solutions
•Thorough knowledge of data architectures, relational data modeling (logical and physical) in the context of application design
•Advanced SQL and UNIX script development experience. Perl/DBI experience preferred
•Experience with trouble shooting database performance issues and utilizing performance optimization techniques
•Experience working with virtualization and database systems located on NAS/SAN
•Ability to work in cross-functional teams in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment
•Experience working with open source technology, Linux, Postgres, MySQL, (NoSQL is a plus).
