Overview
We're a real-time chat system, so we need someone to architect scalable SMS and VoIP. You'll be building and maintaining APIs with multiple providers, building monitoring tools, and interacting with telecoms.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain APIs to multiple providers
Build real-time chat systems
Build real-time system monitoring and alerting for messaging and calling
Architect scalable SMS and VoIP systems
Optimize network communications (parallelize connections, debug slow/lossy connections)
Interface with telecom providers
VCR Repair
Experience
Test Driven Development
Ruby on Rails
Linux
Redis
Deep understanding of networking protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, TCP, UDP)
Deep understanding of network debugging/monitoring tools
Telephony systems (VoIP, SIP, VoiceXML, SS7, etc)
SMS systems (Direct SMSC access, etc)
Interfacing with telecom companies (AT&T, Verizon, etc)
If you've got telecom experience, even better.
