As a part of the Pliant Operations team, you will be involved in a mix of new product development and sustaining engineering activities.
Responsible for smooth transition of new products from design to production in a high volume manufacturing environment.
Work concurrently with the design engineering team to analyze and influence new products from a DFx perspective with the goal of improving product cost, quality and Leadtime.
Participate in design reviews, manage prototype builds, qualify production processes, and drive component risk analysis.
Investigate and promote cost avoidance through the ongoing investigation and qualification of lower cost alternatives and more effective processes.
Work concurrently with the design engineering team to define and validate diagnostics test requirements for high volume production.
Drive the evaluation and enhancement of engineering design verification process with the goal of releasing zero design defects to production.
Establish technical direction in manufacturing through the evaluation and implementation of leading edge manufacturing technologies and practices.
Train CM personnel to debug and troubleshoot new products to component level; execute formal training sessions prior to pilot production release.
Sustaining activities will include the management of technical change for existing products through ECO process as well as the following;
Maintain product Bill of Material and drawings.
Act as the main technical interface with the Pliant’s supply chain.
Participate in Defect Reduction Team meetings to identify root cause for product yield issues and drive to resolution.
Monitor field RMA trends and work in tandem with the QA and Engineering organizations to implement corrective action(s) to improve overall product quality.
Identify and drive Value Engineering projects to improve product cost & quality.
Identify and implement productivity improvement tools and processes.
As a key member of the Pliant Operations team, you must have 10+ years of directly applicable experience and a BSEE degree / MSEE preferred or equivalent. Successful candidate will require little to no supervision on day-to-day tasks, and will work in tandem with the cross-functional teams and suppliers to achieve goals & objectives.
Thorough understanding of digital design concepts and development practices.
Full understanding of schematic drawing standards and principles.
Hands on experience with PCB layout tools and DFx tools such as Allegro & Valor.
Strong understanding of DFx concepts and principals.
Experienced in circuit board fabrication, assembly, and test processes.
Extensive knowledge of SMT manufacturing processes and practices.
In depth understanding of tools, techniques and manufacturing principals.
Hands on experience with structural test equipment including ICT, Flying Probe, AOI, and 5Dx.
Ability to test and troubleshoot all levels of analog and digital circuits to component level.
Knowledge of analog and digital measurement techniques and design margin principals.
Ability to set up and use lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, and other input/output electronic test equipment.
Strong skills in statistical data analysis.
Experienced with ROHS and WEEE compliance requirements.
Able to resolve problems on a conceptual and advanced troubleshooting level.
Advanced Degrees Preferred
