NowThis News, a recently launched video news network for social and mobile distribution, is looking for a developer to assist our CTO with managing multiple and concurrent mobile and social web projects.
The ideal candidate can combine project management and development skills to help build out mobile apps, video web players, Facebook apps, our native CMS and other products. The position requires an ability to trouble-shoot and fix a wide range of bugs so that our CTO can focus on the larger development roadmap.
We are building a custom video CMS that powers mobile and video apps, embeddable web players and many other products. The developer hired for this role needs to have an understanding of the full project lifecycle and a commitment to working with editorial and management stakeholders to understand new features and priorities.
The position requires sitting in our NY newsroom to act as the first responder when bugs occur and as a communicator of feedback between our editorial teams, CTO and remote developers.
This is a job for a very organized and communicative individual who also has a strong desire to improve on her or his technical skills.
2+ years of work that involves managing web and or mobile projects
Demonstrated experience with managing project roadmaps, specs, developer & designer work schedules
Experience working with editorial and business management to organize goals and requirements
A keen interest in video journalism, especially journalism delivered through mobile and the social web
An understanding of Python/Django, the Akamai CDN and video web technologies that include HTML 5, iOS app development and flash
Act as the first responder when bugs or immediate tech changes need to be made that affect our editorial products
Organize the timelines, requirements and goals of our roadmap
Work closely with our CTO to be his eyes, ears and organizational hand
