Overview
OpenDNS is looking for smart, agile, enthusiastic engineers with a background in big data technologies, and a passion for delivering performant data analysis.
Responsibilities
Analyze, discover and extract interesting usage information from the terabytes of traffic data OpenDNS collects every day. This team is full stack and not only gleans data, but presents it in human consumable formats to our customers via unique reports and analysis tools. You will be writing MR jobs, analyzing performance of the cluster, writing code to serve reporting data to the front end, and solving problems which haven’t been solved before.
Experience
Big ideas about what can be done with Big Data and the future of cloud analysis
5+ years expertise in at least one of these scripting technologies, perl, python, bash
3+ years in-depth experience programming against large Hadoop clusters (preferably Cloudera distro)
5+ years expertise in Java with an emphasis on writing MR jobs
Thorough understanding of multi-threaded and shared resource programming
Operational experience running Hadoop in production (performance tuning)
Demonstrable experience in customer facing reporting solutions based on big data
Experience with Kafka
Experience with Storm
Skills
Desirable, but not required:
Experience in the DNS layer
Tomcat
Redis
PHP web design
Javascript, Jquery, JSON
Cassandra
RIAK
Compensation
